Titan Tech Tip for Tuesday, March 16, 2010

This week’s tech tip was suggested by one of Ms. Schlegel’s Spanish 4 Enriched classes. I’m sure many of us have, over time, developed a veritable mountain of email accounts from various providers: Yahoo, gMail, Hotmail, AOL mail, etc. It’s come to that point in your life, however, where we need to consolidate! What does one do, so that “checking your email” doesn’t mean checking every single account? Email forwarding is the solution, and it’s fairly easy to do if you already have a gMail account. If you don’t, visit gMail.com and create one! Click “More” to see how to do it!
Lucky for you, the helpful people at Google have created a fairly simple tool in order to import email accounts to your gMail account. All you have to do is use it!

  1. First, log into your gMail account, then click on “Settings” in the upper right hand corner.
  2. Then, click on the “Accounts and Import Tab”.
  3. To import mail from an AOL, Yahoo, Hotmail, etc account, click on “Import Mail and Contacts”.
  4. Put in the email address of the account you wish to import from, and click Continue.
  5. Put in the password for that email account, and click Continue.
  6. Select the things you’d like gMail to import, whether you’d like it to retrieve emails from the other account for the next 30 days, and click “Start Import.”

And that’s pretty much it! You could also, if you like, set up forwarding under the “Forwarding” tab of the gMail settings to send all your gMail mail to another email account, if you so wish. If you have any questions, feel free to shoot me an email at
